CBC Stream of Worship and Music Ministry
Charlie & Jill LeBlanc, Directors
2009-2010
CBC Stream of Worship and Music Ministry (SWMM) is designed to nurture, train and raise up the next generation of leaders called in the area of worship and music ministry. Students will receive equipping and exposure in particular aspects of this expansive field, preparing them to fulfill the call of God on their lives in the areas of leading Praise & Worship and ministering God’s Word through the avenue of Music.
First Year
During the first year, CBC students will focus on their relationship with God, laying a solid foundation from the Word of God in Biblical studies, prayer, evangelism and other essential areas including basic foundations on the life of a worshiper. SWMM is primarily a 2nd year course however 1st year students will have the opportunity to audition for the worship team and serve in other positions within the music department (audio, projection, administration, stage help, etc.)
Second Year
Second year is where the main SWMM curriculum will be taught. Along with being involved in the music department, students will have three classes and one Inter-Active Group per term where they will receive hands-on practical training in worship leading, songwriting, musicianship and many other aspects of music ministry. These courses will further strengthen the student’s foundation and specifically prepare them for serving the Body of Christ with their musical gifts. Students who choose the stream of Worship will be required to take 4 hours a week of music courses that will replace 4 hours of the regular CBC second-year curriculum and will be encouraged to attend all of the special music functions throughout the year ( worship nights, special meetings, chapel involvement etc)
Third Year Apprentice Program Option
After completing the first year general curriculum & second year SWMM courses, acceptance into the third year program will require an interview with the directors to determine if this is the best “next step” for the individual. Students accepted as an SWMM apprentice will enter a more intimate mentorship within the School of Worship, to prepare them to pursue their calling in music ministry and leadership with practical training. They will have supervised ministry opportunities to practice and experience what they are learning.
Second and Third year students involved in SWMM will be required to take lessons and advance their skill level on their instrument or voice.
Monday afternoon rehearsals will be a requirement for all involved in the chapel band & audio.
What SWMM is NOT:
CBC Stream of Worship and Music Ministry IS NOT for those looking for a music school to learn an instrument, how to sing or learn about music. SWMM IS NOT a school of the Arts in the area of drama, worship dance or pageantry. However IT IS specifically designed for those who feel called in leadership in Praise & Worship, or to prepare for serving in a local church music setting or independent traveling ministry.

Let the word spoken by Christ the Messiah have its home in your hearts and minds and dwell in you in all its richness, as you teach and admonish and train one another in all insight and intelligence and wisdom in spiritual things, and as you sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, making melody to God with His grace in your hearts. (Amplified version)
Let Christ's teaching live in your hearts, making you rich in the true wisdom. Teach and help one another along the right road with your psalms and hymns and Christian songs, singing God's praises with joyful hearts. (JB Philips translation)
